Apart from Slumdog Millionaire, there were other British successes, Kate Winslet bagging the best actress award.
Without sounding like a kill joy, I just find the whole Gordon Brown jumping on the bandwagon claiming the success as part of the Labour government's policies in helping the entertainment industry completely off putting and typical politicians behaviour to take unmerited glory.
If that were the case surely the film industry shouldn't have to have recourse by going cup in hand to beg money from the Lottery Film funding council.
