Daring to believe...

From a football perspective, especially as a Manchester United fan, I am starting to believe that this will be the year that Chelsea are knocked off their fucking perch. It's games like against Fulham, when the team looks awful, disjointed and dare I say it mid-tablesque. And yet still manages to win, that you realise that perhaps the tide has turned.

Against Liverpool, a similar pattern unfolded. United were quite fortunate to take anything from the game. And if the Fulham game was a smash and grab, I dare say the Liverpool game was daylight robbery of the highest order! Of course I'm not complaining.

The season still has nine games, and each of those games will be like going into a cup final. Some of the fans on many of the United forums are beginning to talk of the treble. I can completely understand how easy it is to get carried away with how the results have panned, and the fact that United are still in contention for all three major trophies.

But, talk of the treble is nothing more than a romantic notion. It would be fantastic for the club to be able to repeat the feat of 1998-1999, but let's not get carried away. Instead, enjoy the ride and let's hope that come May, at least one trophy will be occupying space at Old Trafford.
